CROSS COUNTRY SKIING SLEDS

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING SLEDS
Is nordic combined skiing about as meaningful as combined bobsled and figure skating?

I find that ski jumping is exhillirating and cross-country is a marvelous test of endurance, but I see no logic in combining the two. What are we testing? Apart from the similarity that both take place on skiis, they have NOTHING in common. Why not extend this reasoning and say that figure skaters should also do a run in a bobsled or a skeleton sled. Both sports involve steel blades sliding along ice. I used to find that chess-boxing was ridiculous, but now I see it has some logic to it, which is sorely lacking in nordic combined skiing. Can someone explain to me an opposing point of view?

The connection is in the name and in the type equipment used. Nordic skiing developed Scandinavia and includes all types of skiing where the heel is not fixed to the ski. Nordic ski festivals have been around since the late 19th century. These include cross-country events, jumping, and to determine the best all-around Nordic skier, combined contests.
